As a determined electronics enthusiast, Matteo has already cemented his position as an exquisite musician with a keen year to explore the subgenres of ambient and different approaches toward sound design. Soul Data Transfer EP highlights these very aspects of his creative output, revealing massive soundscapes with deep development of the mix and substance.
When it comes to music, this is a solid example of highbrow keyboard exercises in tonic excellence. Sizzling sound of melting air, flashes of unexpected frequencies and classic ambient deconstruction awaits a devoted listener.
As A1 is more chaotic and based upon the technique of balancing silence and sound, A2 is way more saturated and leaves way less space for breathing – but guiding you through the track with a firm hand.
The other side of the release present more rhythmically structured composition. Still, Shell and Ghost offer little variation of the preferred artistic basis but throw in an occasional straight “beat”.
Soul Data Transfer EP is riddled with glitching sounds and interstellar connection noises, which makes this a crackling sparkling fusebox of wonders.
This release is published in both digital and vinyl, and the physical format boasts an eye-pleasing artwork and the plaque design itself.
An excellent choice for fans of Autechre and Oneohtrix Point Never and other Daniel Lopatin’s works.
